About Sharon Gibson-Mainka
I’m Sharon Mainka, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I hold master’s degrees in both Counseling and Development and Curriculum and Instruction.
I provide trauma-informed counseling to individuals, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief, major life transitions, and other challenging circumstances. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s individual needs. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness, grounding techniques, and neurofeedback.
I believe clients are the experts on their own lives. My role is to provide a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where you can process your experiences, recognize your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful change. Beginning counseling can feel difficult, and I strive to help every client feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the healing process.
