About Barry Wasser

Barry earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Yeshiva University, his Master of Social Work (MSW) from Touro College's Graduate School of Social Work, and specializes in the treatment of individuals with histories of anxiety, depression, trauma, and severe and persistent mental illness. He has over 7 years of experience working with adults, the elderly, and their families. He utilizes various therapeutic techniques and methods during his sessions in order to meet his clients' needs and establish a trusting and comfortable relationship. In turn, Barry aims to provide clients with a safe environment in which they feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring obstacles that hinder quality of life, all while working towards the achievement of their short and long term goals. He has worked with adults of various ages across different settings including a mental health homeless shelter and a transitional residence for adults with mental illness. He also has experience facilitating group therapy sessions and mental health case management, both of which have proven to be beneficial to both clients and their families. Barry's experience has helped him focus on taking into account all factors that influence the well-being of his clients. Barry values supportive therapeutic partnerships, assertiveness, and open-mindedness; these form the foundation of his therapeutic style. Each therapy session or family meeting is viewed as a new opportunity to find ways to achieve and promote sustained personal growth.

“Personable, listens and extremely helpful in advising solutions”

“Barry has been incredibly helpful and great in finding ways to support my mental health and prioritize myself. Super easy to talk to and very understanding. 10/10”

“Barry cares and is a good listener. He has grace and understanding to help bring an upbeat perspective to whatever the situation is. His humanity gives me hope to understand that the problem isn’t as serious as I thought.”

“Barry is excellent and very helpful! Highly recommend to anyone considering therapy.”

“I appreciate that Barry Wasser sends messages in the app on a routine basis. I get the impression he wants to speak to his clients and make sure they are okay.”

“I appreciate his willingness to respond to text messages and he does so in a timely fashion. I also appreciate his flexibility in scheduling.”

“Very good therapist who has experience in DBT and a good listener”

“Excellent”

“Barry is awesome. He’s easy to talk to, really gets what you’re going through, and gives practical, thoughtful advice without ever being pushy. I’ve felt a lot more grounded and understood since working with him. Highly recommend.”

“Barry is extremely understanding and helpful. I’ve learned so much about myself during our therapy and I always leave feeling positive and in control of my destiny ”

“Barry is an awesome guy and therapist and has really changed my opinion on therapy. He is honest and listens very well, he will listen to your problems and give you great advice on how to tackle your issues. You can talk to him about anything and he is not judgmental nor will he make you feel uncomfortable. I recommend him to anyone who is in a dark place because he will help you get back to the top and better then you were before therapy was ever a thought in your mind.”

“Barry is an amazing listener. I tend to rant a lot and he gives extremely good feedback and advice when I take pauses during my rants. Ive seen so much growth having him as a therapist and he validates and acknowledges my growth each session which makes a huge difference in my journey with therapy.”

“Barry is a kind patient therapist who listens attentively and is very proactive with addressing concerns and reassuring instabilities. It’s evident he cares. ”

“Barry is warm, welcoming, understanding, and approachable. He is great at understanding issues and helping you understand the causes so you can work out ways to improve in all areas of your life. I always feel like I’ve made progress after every session and my family agrees his help is working. I’ve had several other therapists over the years and have not made as much progress with them as I have with Barry. Strongly recommend him. ”

“I’ve had positive experiences with previous in person therapists who were the typical “Hmmm, I see, that’s interesting. Tell me more.” type. Barry Wasser quickly gets to the heart of the matter, assesses what my root issues are, and gives me actionable perspective . I couldn’t be happier to have him help me. ”
